'Kandy unable to win any trophies, but will come back', KSC Trustee - Malik Samarawickrema

"We were unable to win any trophies during the season under review, but the club could come back strongly and make amends in the coming season said the Trustee of Kandy Sports Club and former Royal College ruggerite and former President of the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union, Malik Samarawickrema.

He made these observations when he addressed the members of the Kandy Sports Club at the 139th Annual General Meeting of Kandy Sports Club held at the Club Auditorium at Nittawela.

He said that South African born Yohan Taylor who coached the club for six seasons and his long stay with the club achieved results. He will be back in Kandy in time for the club rugby season and we should achieve the some success as in the past.

There are many reasons for us not winning any trophies this season and remedial action will be taken to make amends in the coming season. The Honorary Secretary of Kandy SC Mahes Weerasinghe said that though they did not produce the usual winning ways, but they could be satisfied that with their performances as one cannot be always the winner. We must look into our mistakes and take corrective action, he said.

Dr. Sarath Kapuwatte who was elected President for a record 20th time, said though the club could not win any trophies during the past, they have the potential to bring back our glory days with more determination and commitment. The following were elected office-bearers for the ensuing year:
