Colombo Educational Zone Meet...:

Shan Fernando and Vidusha Lakshani win Best Performance Awards establishing records

Colombo Educational Zone with 1,477 points came first with Negombo

Educational Zone second with 1,035 points and Kelaniya Education Zone third with 424 points at the Inter-Educational Zone school athletic meet held at the Sugathadasa Outdoor Stadium. Dinal Nayana Shan Fernando from Piliyandala Educational Zone and H.D. Vidusha Lakshani from Negombo Educational Zone were adjudged the best in the men's and women's track events in athletics. The best athletes (boys) and girls in their age groups:

Under 15 (boys): Dahan Theuka Rajapakse (St. Benadic College, Colombo) 100 metres in 11.2 secs (Net Meet record). (Girls): M.A. Veronica Sathsarani (St.Sebastian girls College, Negombo - 400 metres in 60.7 secs.

Under 17 (boys): M. Supun Dananjaya (Royal College, Kalutara), Discus Threw with throw of 52.2 metres. Under 17 girls: V. Randi Himasha (Ratnawali Girls College, Colombo) High Jump with height of 1.66 metres (New Record).

Under 19 boys: Dinal Nayana Shan Fernando (St.Sebastian College, Piliyandala - Long Jump in 7.18 metres. (New Record).

Under 19 girls: H.D. Vidusha Lakshani of Newstead Girls College, Negombo) Triple Jump in 12.11 metres (New Record).

Under 21 boys: G.K.D.S. Piyaratne of Nalanda College, Colombo - Long Jump with 7.6 metres. Under 21 girls: Ruwanthi Ferdinands (Gateway International College, Colombo - 200 metres in 26.3 seconds.
