SLT rewards outstanding employees
Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) held the 'Transformers’ awards ceremony
recently to reward outstanding employees who contributed towards the
company’s performance and transformation during 2013. The awards
ceremony at the Cinnamon Grand marked a milestone in felicitating top
performers.
Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Ranjith
Siyambalapitiya was the chief guest. Group Chief Executive Officer, SLT,
Lalith de Silva, Director, SLT, Kalinga Indatissa, Private Secretary to
the Minister, Janath Fernando, management of SLT and subsidiaries and
family members of award winners were also present.
French investors keen on Lanka
Investment and trade links between Sri Lanka and France has improved
in recent times and several French companies have shown interest in
taking part in the ongoing infrastructure development activities in Sri
Lanka, Ambassador of France and patron of the Sri Lanka–France Business
Council (SLFBC), Jean Paul Monchau told members of the Council at its
10th Annual General Meeting in Colombo recently.
He outlined how Sri Lanka’s growing tourism industry could help
promote the country’s trade and investment potential.
BoC turns 75
The Bank of Ceylon (BoC) celebrated 75 years of service in shaping
the financial and banking landscape of Sri Lanka on August 1.
Envisioned to lead the Sri Lankan banking sector for another hundred
years and more, BoC has touched millions of lives through its commitment
to the nation’s economic development.
The seeds of its birth were sown when State Council member George E
de Silva spearheaded a demand for the setting up of a State-aided bank.
Abans restructures director board
Abans PLC has restructured its board of director for effective
governance and streamlining operations. The board now comprises
Chairperson Aban Pestonjee, Managing Director Behman Pestonjee,
Directors Rusi Pestonjee, Saroshi Dubash and Independent Non-Executive
Directors H. Embuldeniya and S. J. de S. Wijeyeratne.
Structural software from Cominto Technologies
Cominto Technologies (Pvt) Ltd, the local partner for Bentley Systems
USA, has introduced the Bentley Structural Software portfolio in Sri
Lanka at a competitive price.
Cominto Technologies is a subsidiary of the EWIS Group. Its group
company, OST promoted the product earlier.
"The Bentley Structural Software Portfolio provides a comprehensive
software for analysis, design, detailing and documentation that could be
used for any complex structural project," a company spokesman said.
Mountain bikes on offer
Scan Jumbo Peanuts, a pioneer brand of packeted peanuts, is offering
50 mountain bikes to consumers up to August 20.
"We organised this promotion to reward customers," Brand Manager
Gayan Wijethilake said.
One can enter the promotion by sending an empty pack or packs to Scan
Products Division, Colombo.
Scan Jumbo Peanuts made to suit the palette of the local customers is
available in several pack sizes. They are carefully packed ensuring
freshness and cleanliness. Quality peanuts are used in the product, a
company spokesman said.

Tharaka Ranwala wins award
Deputy General Manager, Marketing and Business Development, Sampath
Bank, Tharaka Ranwala has been awarded the ‘Marketing Professional of
the Year’ award at the Global Brands Excellence awards 2014 held
parallel to World Brand Congress 2014, in Singapore.
Ranwala, who is a professional banker and a marketing specialist,
clinched this award for his pioneering campaigns in the local banking
sector surpassing more than 100 professionals from around the world.
He has steered some of the prominent banking initiatives of Sampath
bank such as ‘Kalin Cash’, 'Sanhinda Saver’ and the re-launch of their
