Adverse weather these days

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and Galle and Matara districts in the Southern province in the next 24 hours. Showers will spread to the Northwestern province too, Duty Meteorologist Meryl Mendis told the Sunday Observer yesterday.

Afternoon or evening thundershowers will develop at several places elsewhere. Wind velocity can be expected up to 60 kmph at times over the central hills and over the southern sea areas, he said.

There may be temporary localised strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimise the damages caused by lightning, he said.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle and at several places in the other sea area around the island.
