Ginger, a money spinner

Ginger cultivation in the Kurunegala District has become a success said S.H. Karunaratna, Assistant Director of the Department of Export Agriculture in the Kurunegala District.

He was speaking at the District Agricultural Committee meeting held recently.

Karunaratna said that ginger has been cultivated on 80 hectares in Polpithigama, Melsiripura areas in the Kurunegala District.

It has also been planned to cultivate ginger in of 100 hectares, this year.

Ginger cultivation will become much profitable to farmers. One kilo gram of ginger can be sold at Rs. 525, he said.
