Around 11,773 road accidents have been reported countrywide and 776
persons died due to road accidents during the past seven months,
according to the Ministry of Transport Services in its latest

The reasons adduced for the accidents are due to motorcyclists not
wearing helmets, drivers not wearing seat belts, overspeeding, drunken
driving and the carelessness of drivers.
Some drivers don't follow road rules and road signals. Last year
37,877 road accidents had been reported islandwide and around 2362
