Grand closing ceremony today
The 20th Commonwealth Games will come to an end tonight with a
stupendous ceremony which will replicate the transformation of the
games’ appearance from one culture to another, from Glasgow, Scotland to
Gold Coast, Australia which is the host city for of the next
Commonwealth Games to be held in 2018.
The Closing Ceremony will be festive and celebratory and the people
of Glasgow consider the closing ceremony as an opportunity to thank all
who were part of the Games, to revel in their success, and celebrate
together for the last time. It will also replicate the meaning of
friendships and will be the perfect stage to hand over to the next
Commonwealth city, Gold Coast which won the bid when they beat Sri
Lanka’s candidate city, Hambantota at St. Kitts.
The ceremony will be broadcast live from 9pm GMT, which is 1.30 am
Sri Lanka time tomorrow, world-wide, with an expected viewership of over

while the rest of the lineup will showcase Scotland’s musical heritage.
Among the Scottish artists who will perform in front of one of the
biggest global audiences ever, will be Deacon Blue, Lulu and Dougie
Maclean as well as up and coming Glasgow band Prides.
