Epic knock by Moors skipper Shehan Jayasooriya

Former Cambrian and Sri Lanka 'A' player Shehan Jayasooriya hammered
a career best 230 runs to put Moors in a commanding position on the
second day of the Under-23 Division I match played at Braybrooke Place
yesterday.

Moors skipper Jayasooriya had 13 towering sixes and 20 power-packed
boundaries in his knock which came in only 166 deliveries. His innings
helped Moors to gain a valuable first innings lead of 236 runs. The
soldiers batting a second time were 80-2 wickets, still trailing by 156
runs.

Two fine innings of Pavan Wickramasinghe (95) and William Bossisto
(78) and a superb spell of bowling by off spinner Tharindu Kaushal, who
had a match-bag of 11 wickets for 127, helped NCC beat CCC by 117 runs
in their match which ended at NCC yesterday.
NCC delcared their second innings at 174 for six wickets, setting CCC
a victory target of 300 runs. But the visitors were bundled out for 182
runs with Kaushal (4-70) being the main wrecker.

Moratuwa SC took major honours on the second day of their match
against Colts which continued at Tyronne Fernando Stadium yesterday.
The visitors replying to Moratuwa's total of 230 runs, were able to
muster only 156 runs with lone warrior Sadeera Samarawickrama making 57
runs. Spinner Sahan Nanayakkara turned in a superb spell of bowling to
capture seven wickets for 32.
The homesters were six for two wickets in their second innings.

Navy stun Tamil Union
Navy Sports Club came up with a stunning display to bundle out the
formidable Tamil Union for 94 runs in reply to their total of 282 at
Welisara yesterday.
Sameera Sandamal (4 for 34) and Benedictine skipper Yohan Zoysa
(three for 4) were responsible for Tamil Union's debacle.
Earlier, the Sailors made a formidable 282 runs with former Anandian
Lahiru Jayakody 69 and Madura Madusanka 46 making usefull contributions.
