EFC workshop on Cybercrime
The Employers' Federation of Ceylon (EFC) will conduct a workshop on
computer crime to keep corporates informed about their legal rights and
obligations. The workshop will be held at the ICA on Friday.
As the estimated annual cost of global cybercrime reaches $100
billion, more corporations, are falling foul of employee-related
computer crime.
Last year 84% of the most serious data breaches in the world came
from business premises, government institutions and medical facilities.
Over one third of those breaches were committed by an employee of that
organisation. Such crimes cost organisations over US $100 billion a
year.
As Sri Lanka's industries continue to invest heavily in the latest
ICT, the EFC is mindful that there is a large knowledge gap with regards
to employers' rights and obligations when it comes to computer crime.
The workshop will focus on laws relating to ICT in Sri Lanka and the
use of computer evidence in legal proceedings. |
