PLC conducts CKD screening programs

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), is a severe disease with a high prevalence in the Anuradhapura area.

The Anuradhapura branch of People's Leasing and Finance PLC (PLC) with the Kidney Protection Foundation in Anuradhapura and the officers of Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, conducted CKD screening camps in the Anuradhapura area recently.

This initiative was to identify patients who suffer from CKD and refer the affected to the Nephrology Unit of the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.

Programs were conducted to educate the community on CKD, symptoms associated with it, causative factors, importance of early identification and preventive measures. The application of agro chemicals in prescribed amounts and the importance of organic farming for a healthy lifestyle were also emphasised during the program. Four community screening programs were completed in Kelanikawawa (Galenbindunuwewa), Karagahawawa (Thalawa), Kadawa Rathmale and Rajanganaya Track 5 areas.
