Errant traders nabbed

The Consumer Affairs Authority has conducted approximately 17,000 raids to round up errant traders who sold rotten onions, potatoes, outdated dried fish and low-quality food items at exorbitant prices.

On their being prosecuted the errant traders had been fined and a sum of 400 million rupees was remitted to the government coffers. Raids were conducted to protect the consumers and it will be further intensified countrywide said W.E. Jayathilake, former Bingiriya Divisional Secretary.
