Sri Lanka Sevens team in two smashing wins in Hong Kong
The Sri Lanka Rugby Sevens team came up with a superb display to
register two good victories over China and Chinese Taipei on the first
day of the first-leg of the Asian Rugby Sevens series at the Happy
Valley football grounds in Hong Kong yesterday. In their first game the
Lankans beat China by 17 points (one goal, two tries) to 5 (one try).
Anuruddha Wilwara, Shehan Pathirana and Richard Dharmapala scored a
try each for Sri Lanka with Fazil Marija adding the extra points to one
try. In their second match, the Sri Lankans scored a smashing 40 points
(five goals, one try) to 12 (one goal, one try) win over Chinese Taipei.
Anuruddha Wilwara (two), Sandun Herath (two), Richard Dharmapala (one)
and Danushka Ranjan (one) scored the tries for Sri Lanka with skipper
Fazil Marija converting five tries.
The Sri Lankans will meet Malaysia in the quarter-final of the Cup
Championships on Sunday (today).
