BoC marks 75th anniversary
The Bank of Ceylon (BoC) celebrated its 75th anniversary recently. As
part of the celebrations the bank organised a walk from Viharamahadevi
Park to BoC Head Office. In line with the main event at the head office,
all provinces with BoC branch networks organised similar walks.
BoC Chairman Air Chief Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama and General
Manager D.M. Gunasekara, customers and stakeholders and well wishers of
the bank joined the employees in the walk.
Family members of the staff also joined the anniversary walk making
the headcount exceed 1,000. The walk was colourful with motor cycle
riders, decorated double-decker buses, bands and traditional dancers.
When the walk reached the Head Office, the Chairman and the General
Manager with the staff released gas balloons attached with gift
vouchers.
The event was shown live on the Rupavahini Ayubowan program from time
to time. The gift vouchers should be presented at the nearest BoC branch
to claim the prizes.
Apart from the walk, the Bank of Ceylon has organised several other
events in line with its 75th anniversary celebrations, such as a bicycle
race, art competition for Ran Kekulu account holders and a tree-planting
campaign.
The Bank of Ceylon earned global recognition as one of the top 1,000
banks in the world, as listed by The Banker Magazine (UK) in 2012, 2013
and 2014. The Bank was recognised as one of Asia's Best Brands in 2013
by the Chief Marketing Officer's Council (CMO Council) based in Mumbai,
India.

Sri Lanka for the past six consecutive years. |
