Fifteen finalists of the Miss Universe, China arrived last week in
Sri Lanka for a pre-pageant tour, organised by the Mother Sri Lanka
Trust and sponsored by the Cinnamon Hotels Resorts.
The beauty queens visited the 'Richmond Castle' Bungalow, one of the
oldest and most valuable architectural building complexes, owned by
Nanayakkarara Rajawasala Appuhamilage Don Arthur de Silva Wijesinghe
Siriwardhane at Palathota, Kalutara.
Teachers with the students of the Children's Centre at Richmond
Castle welcomed the beauties. The programs were jointly organised by
'Mother-Sri Lanka' and 'Miss China Beauty Pageant', programs.
Miss Jinye, the current Miss China posed for group photographs with
teachers, children and some volunteers working for Mother-Sri Lanka
program of the Presidential Secretariat.
The station officer in-charge of Richmond Castle Ariyadasa delivered
the welcome speech and the program was explained by the chairperson of
'Mother-Sri Lanka' program Janaki Kuruppu, to the Chinese damsels while
all the speeches were translated into Chinese by a Chinese translator of
the foreign team which comprised around eight journalists from China.
Miss China Miss Jinye said that Sri Lanka, though small, is a beautiful
country. I love Sri Lanka, specially the people as they are friendly and
always smile.
She said, "I want to get married to a Sri Lankan and live in Sri
Lanka."
