The International Research Conference 2014 organised by the General
Sir John Kotelawala Defence University was held recently with the
participation of eminent speakers from Sri Lanka and abroad.
Twenty-one-year old K.E.R.L. Fernando, a second year law student, the
youngest presenter at the Conference presented her paper in the
technical session of Law on "Executing Police Powers during
Demonstrations: Legal Challenges in the Sri Lankan context".
Elisha Fernando, a student of St. Bridget's Convent, with several
achievements in academic and sports activities was an outstanding
athlete who captained the school athletic and netball teams in 2010.
Vice Chancellor Maj. General M.P. Peiris RWP, RSP, USP, ndc, psc,
Dean, Faculty of Law Dr. Prathiba Mahanamahewa, senior lecturer Dr. Sara
De Silva of the Defence University were behind her success in all her
endeavours.
Elisha is the daughter of Roshan Fernando, the Deputy Inspector
General of Police in charge of the Uva Range. |
