SLFP to celebrate 63rd anniversary

The 63rd anniversary celebrations of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), the main constituent partner of the ruling United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) will be held under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Vincent Dias Stadium, Badulla on September 2 at 3.00 p.m. All constituent party leaders of the UPFA will also participate.

The SLFP anniversary celebrations will be held parallel to the UPFA’s election campaign for the upcoming Uva Provincial Council. The SLFP was founded by the late Prime Minister S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike in 1951 and since then it has been one of the two largest parties in the Sri Lankan political arena.
