Trinity-Richmond clash in U-17 final

Trinity College, Kandy will meet Richmond College, Galle in the final of the 'Singer Trophy' Under 17 Division 1 inter schools cricket tournament final today (31) at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo.

Richmond Galle played 6 matches in first round and they won all matches against P. De S. Kularatne, Ambalangoda, Dharmasoka Ambalangoda, Kalutara Vidyalaya, Sri Devananda Ambalangoda, Devapathiraja Rathgama and Revatha Balapitiya.

Trinity, Kandy played 7 matches in first round and they won all matches against St. Thomas Matale, Ibbagamuwa Central, Vidyartha Kandy, St. Mary's Kegalle, Sri Rahula Katugastota, Dhrmaraja Kandy and St. Sylvester's Kandy.

Richmond, Galle played 3 matches in second round and they won only 2 matches against De Mazenod, Kandana and St. Sylvester's Kandy. Match ended no result against Holy Cross, Kalutara.

Trinity, Kandy played 3 matches in second round and they won only 2 matches against Mahanama Colombo and Rahula Matara. They lost against St. Sebastian's Moratuwa.

Richmond, Galle beat Maliyadeva Kurunegala in the pre-quarter final and beat Lumbini Colombo in the quarter-final. Richmond Galle beat St. Sebastian's Moratuwa in the semi final. Trinity, Kandy beat St. Peter's Bambalapitiya in the pre quarter final and beat Ananda College, Colombo in the quarter final. Trinity Kandy beat St. Joseph's Colombo in the semi-final. Trinity, Kandy will be led by Shavindu Amarasinghe and Richmond Galle will be led by Charith Asalanka.

Richmond played 12 matches and they won 11 matches. One match was ended no result. Richmond Galle entered to the final as unbeaten team.

Richmond deputy skipper right hand batsman and right arm off spinner Wanindu Hasaranga scored 428 runs with two centuries and 2 half centuries. He took 19 wickets. Left hand batsman Kamindu Mendis scored 534 runs with one century and four fifties. Skipper Charith Asalanka scored 369 runs with 2 centuries. Hasitha Boyagoda scored 491 runs with 5 half centuries and he took 18 wickets. Dilan Madhusanka scored 452 runs with a century and four fifties. Sachira Gaminda scored 330 runs with two half centuries. Sanmuganathan Shanogeeth took 17 wickets and Lahiru Kumara took 16 wickets.
