People's Bank presents gifts to children's account holders
The People's Bank will present gifts to all Isuru Udana and Sisu
Udana account holders throughout this month to mark World Children's Day
which fell on October 1.
The People's Bank has one of the highest number of children's savings
accounts in the country, offering high interest rates and benefits.
The Isuru Udana account was introduced for children below five years
while the Sisu Udana account was introduced to inculcate the savings
habit among children above six years.
The two account groups has been successful in inculcating the savings
habit in a large number of students. The student's savings centres in
schools around the island also accounts for one of the largest student
savings centre networks.
The emphasis that the People's Bank places on children's savings
accounts is based on the understanding that children are the future of a
nation and need to be nurtured with good habits.
Isuru Udana account holders who make a deposit of Rs. 1,000 to Rs.
1,000,000 this month will receive gifts such as teddy bears, colouring
books, children's song books, pencil boxes, lunch boxes, crayons, school
bags, building blocks, and melodicas among many other gifts along with
gift vouchers worth Rs. 10,000.
Sisu Udana account holders who make a deposit of between Rs. 1,000 to
Rs. 1,000,000 will receive gifts such as caps, exercise books, table
clocks, school bags, umbrellas, lunch boxes, wristwatches, rain coats,
dictionaries, encyclopedias, calculators and pen drives, along with
Peoples' Gift vouchers worth Rs. 10,000.
Isuru Udana and Sisu Udana account holders also have the opportunity
of converting their children's savings accounts to the Young Executive
Savings accounts when they reach 18. Students can also obtain education
loans to further their tertiary education. |
