Flowers... for healing and hope:
Ikebana show to mark breast cancer month
Flowers arranged in an art form which brings out its beauty and
serenity...through Ikebana the Japanese form of flower arranging, would
be demonstrated at a fund raiser titled 'Pink ribbon bouquets sending
rays of hope', at the Queen's Hotel, Kandy on October 11 from 4.00pm,
the proceeds of which would be utilised to purchase medicines and other
post operative requirements for women afflicted with breast cancer at
the General Hospital, Kandy.
Christopher Lim, a Singaporean flower arranger, demonstrator, trainer
and exhibitor is coming to Sri Lanka especially for this occasion and
the patrons in Kandy would have the opportunity of seeing the latest
trends in Ikebana when he weaves magic with flowers, leaves, branches
etc ... an unforgettable experience.
This event is to create awareness of this beautiful art form.
There would also be a showcasing of talent in a mini exhibition of
Ikebana floral arrangements. Additionally raffle tickets with airline
tickets and boutique hotel stays are also currently in circulation, all
for the purpose of giving the breast cancer patients the maximum
requirements. October being the breast cancer month, and this may serve
to be a gift from women to women. |
