Sri Lanka Under-19 win one-day series 3-1
Kaveen Bandara and Akeel Inham scored two fluent half centuries to
guide Sri Lanka Under-19 towards an eight-wicket win over Australia
Youth team in the final one-day match played at the SSC grounds,
yesterday.
Sri Lanka Under-19, chasing a 204-run target on a batting friendly
SSC wicket, achieved victory with 71 balls to spare to seal the
five-match One-day series, making 206-2 in the 39th over in the
rescheduled second game yesterday.
After losing Youth ODI debut opener Rashmitha Opatha for a run-a-ball
14, Kaveen Bandara (86 off 114) and Akeel Inham (83 not out) put on a
147-run partnership for the second wicket.
Aussie off spin bowler Sam Grimwade who wrecked the Lankans on the
previous match taking five wickets, took the two wickets that fell for
53 runs. Inham, the DS Senanayake College right hander struck 11 fours
and a six during his 89-ball knock.
Earlier, off spinner Shammu Ashan bowled a pretty decent spell of 10
overs taking 3 wickets for 36 runs. Left arm spinner Damitha Silva also
chipped in with 2-31.
The two teams will be meeting each other for the tour ending
three-day match which is scheduled from October 7 to 9 at Moratuwa
stadium.
