New DG at IBSL

Director General, IBSL, Mrs. Damayanthi Fernando |
Mrs. Damayanthi Fernando recently assumed duties as the Director
General of the Insurance Board of Sri Lanka (IBSL), the regulator of the
insurance industry.
Before her appointment as the Director General (DG), Mrs. Fernando
served as the Acting Director General for seven months and the Director
Legal of the Insurance Board.
She has regulatory experience of nearly sixteen years at the
Insurance Board and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Mrs. Fernando, a lawyer by profession, took oaths as an
Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in December 1996. She
also obtained a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the
University of Colombo in 2003.
Mrs. Fernando is a visiting lecturer at the Institute of Advanced
Legal Studies for the Diploma in Finance, Banking and Insurance. She has
served as a Council Member of the National Council for Road Safety, for
a three years representing the Insurance Board. |
