Mobitel launches pension disbursements via mCash service

The national mobile service provider Mobitel, launched a new facility for pension disbursements via its already popular mCash service in partnership with the Pensions Department.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa, unveiled the Pension Disbursement facility via the mCash service as an added benefit for retired government employees.

Through this service pensioners can now receive their pensions directly into their mCash Account for greater convenience.

The new facility eliminates the need for mCash customers to travel to collect their pension disbursement. The new service is a testimony to the high level of customer care offered by Mobitel. Since its launch last year, mCash has already garnered a major part of registered customers across the length and breadth of the country.

Licensed by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, mCash allows Mobitel customers to maintain a Mobile Account and experience a whole new convenient method of carrying out financial transactions.

mCash customers could deposit money, withdraw money, transfer money, pay utility bills, insurance premiums and even pay for goods and services. Pensioners can select a mCash Account or Enhanced mCash Account depending on the amount of the pension to be received.

New customers can register for mCash by dialling #111# through a Mobitel number where a basic account will be opened automatically. The customer can upgrade his or her account immediately by simply visiting any of the Mobitel locations.

The pension disbursement via mCash facility offers a world of convenience to pensioners, especially senior citizens, who do not have to travel to a bank branch to collect their pension. mCash allows them the ease of use of having their pension credited directly on to their mobiles.
