Southern Children's Provincial Council inaugurated

The inaugural session of Southern Children's Provincial Council (SCPC) was held at the Wackwella Management Development and Training Institute in Galle on October 1 (Children's Day) organised by the SPC Minister of Provincial Youth Affairs, Culture and Art Affairs, Probation and Childcare and Sports Weerasumana Weerasinghe.

The chief guest was the Chief Minister SPC Shan Wijayalal de Silva. The SCPC consists of 55 Councillors aged between 14-16 years selected from District Children's Councils and Children's Homes, including two members nominated by the Provincial Minister. There are 22, 17 and 14 child Councillors from Galle, Matara and the Hambantota districts.
