Govt ready for polls -Minister Lakshman Yapa

The Government is ready to go for an election, Investment Promotion Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena told the Sunday Observer yesterday. President Mahinda Rajapaksa has asked Ministers to be ready for the election and the date will be announced soon.

The Government did much work by fulfilling the aspirations of the people within a short time. The Government is confident of winning the 2015 election, he said. Even before the election the JVP led factions launched propaganda campaigns that President Rajapaksa could not contest a third term.

Mahinda Rajapaksa became the President at a time when terrorism was rife, the minister said.
