Zahira Super 16 Soccer 7s on Saturday Oct. 18

ZAHIRA SOCCER FESTIVAL: The Past Prefects' Association of Zahira College, Colombo will organise 'Zahira Super 16 Soccer 7's" for the 10th consecutive year on Saturday, 18th October 2014 from 8.30 a.m. onwards at Zahira college Grounds, Maradana, under the theme of "Football Festival". This is an interschool invitational seven-a-side football tournament approved by the Ministry of Education and recommended by the Sri Lanka Schools Football Association.

It is conducted annually from 2005 with the objective of "Adding Value to youth Football in Sri Lanka."

The main tournament Zahira Super 16 Soccer 7s will be started on a league basis of 4 groups. Based on placing in the first round, teams will be drawn into four categories in the second round, namely Cup, Plate, Bowl and Shield Championship.

The Cup winners will be given a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and total cash rewards and awards wroth over Rs. 500,000 will be on offer among participants. Also, this is the first soccer tournament in the country which offered such cash prizes and awards at schools level.
