Kelani Cables supports Northern electricians

Kelani Cables PLC regularly conducts the Kelani Visura program, to train apprentices and technicians in wiring and electrical systems, throughout the island as a CSR initiative. Two such programs were conducted at Gnanam Hotel in Jaffna and the Nellie Hotel in Vavuniya recently. About 250 electricians were present.

The Kelani Visura program in progress

The latest methods and techniques used in developed countries on laying wires in electrical systems are taught to apprentices and technicians.

The programs in Jaffana and Vavuniya were conducted by Anopradeepan of the National Vocational Authority.

Kelani Cables reached the milestone of training 15,000 technicians in 2013.

The company has done a yeomen service to the nation by conducting training programs for budding electrical technicians in Kilinochchi, Jaffna, Vavuniya, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Kalmunai, Ampara and Moneragala.

Kelani Cables, Brand Development Manager Channa Jayasinghe said the company treats the CSR program as an investment for the benefit of the new breed of electrical technicians.

"We selected Jaffna and Vavuniya for Kelani Visura workshops as construction work is going on apace in these areas."

"The electrical technicians involved in the projects need to have a good knowledge of the subject. Kelani Visura gears them perfectly to face this challenge by imparting world-class knowledge," he said.

Kelani Cables PLC is a 100 percent Sri Lankan-owned company.
