Royal Philex 2014 - South Asia's oldest consecutive philatelic

The Philatelic Club of Royal College, Colombo organised " Royal
Philex 2014, the Philatelic Exhibition for the 70th consecutive year and
is said to be the oldest consecutive philatelic exhibition in South
Asia.
It was held at the National Art Gallery. Many historically important

first day covers, and postal
journals were on display at the exhibition, which made the exhibition
very timely and also effective since the Education Ministry of Sri Lanka
is on a mission to set up Philatelic Clubs in all schools.
Rohan Jayaweera, Country Consultant for Sri Lanka and the Maldives
for Google Asia Pacific and Head Prefect of Royal College for 1997/98
was the chief guest and opened the exhibition along with Principal of
the College, Upali Gunesekera.Teacher- in-charge of the Club, Mrs.
W.A.H.N. Jayaweera, members of the Club, students and parents were
present at the exhibition.
