Universal Children's Day was celebrated at the Panadura Court complex by the Judges and the staff with an awareness program for 50 children from Panadura Walana Wijewardena Children's Home recently. The ceremony was organised by the Panadura Additional District Judge and Chief Magistrate Ruchira Welliwatta. Here he addresses the gathering while Panadura Provincial High Court Judge Amal Thilekeratne former Panadura Provincial High Court Judge Sarath Gunatilleka and the Panadura District Court Judges and Magistrates look on.

The newly installed traffic lights at the Lake House junction or previously known as the Lake House roundabout was meant to ease the heavy congestion caused by an influx of vehicles coming from three directions. However, the lights which are disfunctional have converted the junction into a death trap, where motorists operate according to instinct and many of them have had had near misses, not to mention the safety of the pedestrians crossing on the Pedestrian Crossings. Here traffic control officers examining the scene of an accident which took place last morning at the Lake House roundabout, where a motorcyclist rammed into an oncoming private bus. The Past Pupils’ Association of the Convent of Mary Immaculate, Matara (Colombo branch) made a donation of Neupogen vials to the children's ward of the Maharagama Cancer Hospital recently. Here the President Mrs. Lalitha Rajapaksa, Assistant Treasurer, Nalini Senbukuttiaratchi, Assistant Secretary Amara Dissanayake, Secretary Ranjini Jayaweera Bandara and Vice President Stella Amerasinghe after handing over the gift to the Director of the Hospital, Dr. Kanishka Karunaratne.
 


The dengue eradication program was conducted at Napuwala Grama Niladhari division of Dehiowita Provincial Secretariat recently organised jointly by MOH Dehiowita Dr. Madatuwa and area Grama Niladharini Nilani Hettiarachchi with the assistance of the area PHI and some Army personnel.
