Decision to annul anti-terrorism sanctions:
EU exposes its duplicity
by P. Krishnaswamy
JHU frontliner and Western PC Minister Udaya Gammanpila told the
Sunday Observer that Sri Lanka is grateful to the EU because it had now
exposed its duplicity to the world with regard to world terrorism. Their
decision also reflects that they are working on a political agenda, the
Minister said. He was commenting on the Court of Justice decision of the
European Union to annul its anti-terrorism sanctions on the LTTE.
Everybody is aware that the LTTE neither gave up terrorism nor
separatism and was militarily defeated. The terrorist outfit has been
very active in some Western countries, especially in EU countries,
propagating its separatism demand, the PC Minister said.
While they claim that they are fighting against world terrorist
outfits, the Al-Qaeda and the ISI, they are promoting LTTE terrorism he
said.
Sri Lanka should be more cautious now because LTTE terrorism may
re-emerge in the Northern province with EU assistance, he said. |
