Sri Lanka Navy, Sangamitta B.V. and Christ Church Matale shine at hockey

Hockey: Sangamitta Balika Vidyalaya, Matale (girls), Christ Church College, Matale (boys), Sri Lanka Navy 'A' (womens), Sri Lanka Navy 'A' (mens) walked away with championship titles at the All-Island People's Bank Super Sevens Hockey Championship organised by Seethadevi Balika Vidyalaya and Seethadevi Sports Club and sponsored by People's Bank. The matches were held two days at the Bogambara Stadium, Kandy. In the schools Cup finals, Sangamitta Balika Balika Vidyalaya edged out the hosts Seethadevi Balika Vidyalaya 1-0 with the winning goal scored by centre forward Sachithra Ratnasiri.

In the boys schools finals Christ Church College scored a 2-0 win over their home town rivals Vijaya College.

Sri Lanka Navy 'A' womens team regained the inter club womens title by defeating Seethadevi Sports Club 4-0. The goal scorers for the winners were skipper and centre forward Maneesha Dissanayake (2), centre half Buddhika Gunaratne (1) and centre forward Chathurika Wijesuriya (1).

Navy women's team had won this championship for over ten years in succession and they lost to Sri Lanka Air Force last year. The Air Force ladies gave this championship a miss this year without defending their title.

Navy 'A' won the inter club championship for men by defeating their 'B' team 2-0 in the finals.
