Mahamaya College continues to excel in swimming

Swimming .... Mahamaya Girls College, Kandy won the Age Group Swimming Championship for the sixth year at the Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Pool. Then Mahamaya had won the Pentathlon Championship for the last 10 years and had also won the Relay Carnival for the last 12 years and the Sri Lanka Schools Championship for 16 years.

Swimming captain Thilini Tennakoon is the captain of Mahamaya and the swimmers are thankful to Principal Mrs Indra Withanachchi, coach A.H. Sugath and past teacher-in-charge C. Ruwanpathirana and present teacher-in-charge D. Siripala who have taken on active interest in the swimming activities of the girls.

The school became popular in swimming in 1989 onwards.
