Saveen (3 for 15) and Venushka (42) excel for Bens

St Benedict's College players Saveen Kaushika (3 for 15) and Venushka Fonseka (42) excelled in their Under-13 match against St John's College Nugegoda, which ended in a draw at the SS Jayasinghe grounds, Dehiwala last week.

Batting first, St John's were bowled out for 132 runs as Saveen Kaushika claimed three wickets for 15 runs. Yohan Nimesh and Vihanga Abhishek shared two wickets each.

In reply, Benedictines were 111-6 at close. Venushka Fonseka played a fine knock of 42. St John's bowlers Denuwara Mendis and Prakash Jayawardene picked up 3-31 and 2-10 respectively.

St John's College: 132 (Rahul Gunasekara 35, Rusiri Samarakoon 25, Kavindu Thilakasiri 22, Saveen Kaushika 3-15, Yohan Nimesh 2-36, Vihanga Abhishek 2-25)

St Benedict's College: 111-6 (Venushka Fonseka 42, Sanoj Thivanka 29, Pasan Suvahas 13, Denuwara Mendis 3-31, Prakash Jayawardena 2-10)
