Two way carpet road to cost Rs. 3,000 million

Construction work to develop 14 km stretch of road from Rambukkana to
Kurunegala via Katupitiya Dambokka, was launched by Sabaragamuwa Chief
Minister Maheepala Herath and Minister of Highways Nirmala Kothalawala
at Rambukkana recently.
Kegalle district MP Kanaka Herath, Secretary to the Ministry of
Highways and Chairman, Road Development Authority Ranjith Premasiri also
participated.
The road will be converted into a two-way road and carpeted. The
Highways Ministry has allocated Rs. 3,000 million for the purpose. A
stretch of 1.5 km of this road within the limits of the Rambukkana
Pradeshiya Sabha will be converted into a four-way road. Herath said
when the road development is completed it would facilitate local and
foreign tourists to visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and Wagolla
Zoological Gardens which is nearing completion.
