Program to combat dengue

The Kurunegala Municipal Council has implemented a crash program to destroy mosquito breeding places and eliminate the spread of 'dengue' fever in the MC limits. Kurunegala Mayor Anurada Gamini Peramunage said that the program would be implemented before the commencement of the rainy season.

The only practical way to prevent the spread of dengue is to eradicate the breeding grounds and other places favourable to the mosquitoes by making the environment free from pollution, the mayor said.
