Katina pinkama on Oct.26
The Katina Pinkama of the Dharma Nikethanarama Vihara Nawala,
Koswatte will be held on October 26, under the patronage of
Viharadhipati Ven. Mirihane Sumana Nayake Thera and the sponsorship of
Sunethra Mendis and Virajini Jayawardene.
The All-night pirith ceremony will be held on October 25 and the
katina perahera will be held on October 26 morning.
The program will conclude with the Katinanisansa dhammadesana
delivering by Ven. Kandegame Deepawamalambare Thera on October 26 at
7.30 p.m.
SLIOP Awards ceremony tomorrow
The Sri Lanka Institute of Printing (SLIOP) will hold its Awards
Ceremony 2014 at the BMICH tomorrow from 3 p.m. Minister of Youth
Affairs and Skills Development Dullas Alahapperuma will be the Chief
Guest while Vice Chancellor, University of Colombo, Dr. W.K.
Hirimburegama will be the guest of honour.
Over 700 students will receive their certificates and awards on this
day.
CNCI seminar on Nov. 4
The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) has organised a
one-day seminar on 'Online Remittance of EPF and ETF Payments' on
November 4 from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. at the 'Raja Bojun' Seminar Hall,
Liberty Arcade, R.A. De Mel Mawatha, Colombo 3.
It will be addressed by Superintendent of EPF of the Central Bank of
Sri Lanka Nihal Rodrigo, Additional General Manager, ETF J.M.S.B.
Udugama and the bank representatives from Bank of Ceylon, Hatton
National Bank, People's Bank, Commercial Bank and Sampath Bank.

OGA get-together of Samudradevi BV
The Old Girls' Association of Samudradevi Girls' School, Nugegoda
will hold its annual get-together on Sunday, November 2 from 9.00 a.m to

Pinnacle-laying ceremony at Chittavivekashramaya on Nov. 2
The Katina pinkama and the pinnacle-laying at the Imbulakanda,
Chittavevekashramaya, Radawadunna will be held on November 1 and 2.
There will be an all-night pirith pinkama followed by a Bodhi pooja
and a dhammadesana by Ven. Buttala Buddhadatta Thera, chief incumbent of
Ruwangiri Aranya Senasana.
The Katina perahera which starts at 6 a.m. will conclude with a
Cheewara pooja and a dana to 20 bhikkhus. The pinnacle will be unveiled
at 8.00 a.m., followed by a dhammadesana by Ven. Lenawa Mangala Thera.
Scholarships for low income students
Investment Promotion Deputy Minister Faizer Mustapha has taken steps
to offer scholarships to academic high-achievers from low income
families, under the concept of 'Our Children-Our aid to win your Life',
with an aim of increasing the number of students to enter into
collegiate and tertiary education.
The first step of the program will be held on October 28 at 3.00 p.m.
at the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development auditorium under the
patronage of Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development
Gotabaya Rajapaksa.Students from 22 schools in the Colombo district will
receive scholarship awards at the ceremony. |
