The World Fellowship of Buddhist Youth
Sri Lanka donated eleven water tanks of 1,000 litre capacity
for the benefit of kidney patients in the Anuradhapura
district, in response to a request by the Buddhist temples
in Galen Bindunuwewa. Three thousand safe drinking water
bottles were also donated. Viharadhipathi of the Sri
Shailatalaramaya and Secretary of the Sasanarakshaka
Balamandalaya, Galen Bindunuwewa Ven. Piyananda Thera and
Viharadhipathi, Sri Jayawardenaramaya, Padikaramaduwa Ven.
Kannemaduwe Dhammananda Thera coordinated the program. Chief
Sangha Nayaka of the Southern Hurulu province, Ven.
Marambawe Piyarathana Nayake Thera presided over the
ceremony. A fifteen-member delegation of the society headed
by its President Ratnasiri Mutukumara, General Secretary,
Rasika de Silva, Treasurer, Mrs. W.M. Fernando and life
member K.K. Wijayaweera were also present.
