SLMBC biz delegation visits Malaysia
A delegation of the Sri Lanka-Malaysia Business Council (SLMBC) of
the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce visited Malaysia recently to promote
trade and investment.
The mission was organised to coincide with the IGEM 2014 exhibition
on Green Technology. It was followed by one-on-one business meetings.
The delegates met representatives of over 100 well-established
Malaysian companies with the help of the Sri Lankan High Commission in
Malaysia.
President, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce and
Industry, Madhu Sudan Nair said that Sri Lanka's political stability is
a positive factor for investing in the country. He said that Malaysian
companies should explore the possibility of participating in Sri Lanka's
infrastructure development projects.
Representing the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of
Malaysia, YBhg Dato Syed Hussein Al Habshee presented an overview of the
Malaysian economy and trade.
He highlighted sectors such as tourism, infrastructure, education and
healthcare as having great potential with respect to business
opportunities in Sri Lanka.
One-on-one business meetings were organised with representatives of
Malaysian companies.
The delegates paid a courtesy call on the acting Minister of Trade
and Industries in Malaysia, Dato Lee Chee Leong. Representatives of the
Ministry of Trade and Industries, MATRADE (Malaysia External Trade
Development Corporation) and MIDA (The Malaysian Investment Development
Authority) were also present. |
