BoC to award '18 Plus' schols

The Bank of Ceylon (BoC) will award scholarships to eligible 18 Plus account holders studying in State universities, in recognition of their achievements at the 2012 GCE Advanced Level examination.

This year the bank will award scholarships to 94 students, of whom 20 will be eligible for special merit awards.

Those who obtained the highest marks in the four streams - Science, Mathematics, Commerce and Arts are eligible for the special merit awards. Each student will receive a scholarship for Rs. 35,000.

The Bank has been empowering youth through this scholarship awards since 2002 and has awarded scholarships worth over Rs. 27 million to over 950 BoC 18 Plus account holders.

The other 74 students will be selected through a raffle draw and each of them will be awarded a scholarship worth Rs.30,000.

The selection criteria for this year's scholarship will be based on the 2012 GCE Advanced Level examination results.
