Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Earth 2014,
Imaya Liyanage, paid a courtesy call at Lake House last week
prior to her departure to Manila, Philippines to represent
Sri Lanka at the Miss Earth 2014 pageant. Imaya was also
voted Miss 2014 in the popularity poll conducted among the
15 finalists by Sri Lanka's flagship English newspaper which
was the print media partner of Derana- Veer Miss Sri Lanka

The Economic Development Ministry has
allocated Rs. 5 million to build a sports complex for Rahula
Maha Vidyalaya, Madiwela under the Pura Neguma Project. Here
Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardane lays
the foundation stone for the project. Provincial Minister
Upali Kodikara, Provincial Councillor Isuru Devapriya and
Maharagama Mayor Kanthi Kodikara were also present.
The Mother Sri Lanka movement
initiated the second series of the “North-South Friendship
Bridge” in Jaffna from October 24 to 26. Here Northern
Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Maj. Gen. Udaya Perera is
being conducted to the venue of a concert at Vembadi Girls'
School, Jaffna by the Chairperson of the Mother Sri Lanka
Trust, Ms. Janaki Kuruppu .
Several schools in the Western
Province participated in the Astronomical Day, ‘Astro-14’,
organised by the Astronomical Society of Ananda Balika
Vidyalaya, Colombo recently
and the chief guest was well-known science writer and
astronomer Anura C. Perera. Here President, Astronomical
