RDB to automate all branches soon
The Regional Development Bank (RDB) will automate all its branches by
the end of the year to meet the challenges of 2015. Today, the number of
RDB branches has increased to 266, and the bank has a clientele of
6,000,000 of which the majority are female entrepreneurs.

The banks deposit base as at end of the nine months of 2014 leaped to
Rs. 71 million recording a 18% increase over the corresponding period in
2013.
The PBT for the first nine months in 2014 was Rs 926 million, an
increase of 7%. The total assets was Rs 89 billion, an increase of 17%.
Another significant financial achievement is the total savings
portfolio which stood at Rs 28 billion, a growth of 22%.
The bank was set up to empower rural and semi- urban clients. In
recent years a significant growth in projects related to national
importance has been introduced and implemented in addition to the
customary deposit mobilisation and micro financing.
The products introduced in the recent past have been moving steady
fast. The RDB Divineguma account launched about two years ago has
brought in over 780,000 customers and the RDB Liya saviya launched more
than three years ago also has brought in large number of new customers.
In May 2010, six zonal bank were amalgamated as one national bank,
Regional Development Bank (RDB) by a Parliamentary Act Number 41 of
2008.
The chairperson Ms. Keshala Jayawardena said that the bank conducts
more than 10,000 community meetings (Janahamu) every year as a two-way
communication process between the bank and customers. |
