Southern Province introduces e-payment for vehicle revenue licences
A facility for vehicle revenue licence fee payment using credit card
or mobile phone for vehicles registered in the Southern Province was
launched at the Labuduwa Dakshinapaya Ministerial complex recently.
Parallel to this, the introduction of the facility to obtain vehicle
revenue licence online for vehicles registered in the Southern Province
also took place, ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) sources said.
At present revenue licence for vehicles registered in the Southern
Province can be obtained from any Divisional Secretariat in the Southern
Province.
Obtaining vehicle revenue licences online began first in the Western
Province. Encouraged by the success of this online service in the
Western Province, it was introduced to the Southern Province, the
sources said.
According to a spokesman for ICTA, this year up to last month about
one million vehicle revenue licences had been issued in the Western
Province.
The facility can be obtained through www.srilanka.lk and www.gov.lk
websites.
