GSK wins four awards
The Sri Lanka operations of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) won four National
Business Excellence Awards (NBEAs) including the award for the overall
runner-up among all awards recipients at the 2014 edition of this annual
awards event.
GSK's rich haul of two Gold and two Silver awards affirmed the
company's commitment to sustained business excellence and its
contributions to the economic progress of the country.
GSK won the Gold award for Excellence in Corporate Governance, the
Gold in the 'Healthcare and Related Services' sector, the Silver in the
'Extra Large' category across all sectors and the Silver in the 'Overall
Winners' group, in its first participation in the awards program
conducted and presented by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka
(NCCSL) for the 11th successive year.
"We are delighted at our strong showing at these awards, which are
based on a stringent evaluation by an eminent independent panel of
judges, of more than 80 aspects in seven areas of business excellence,"
said Managing Director of GSK Pharmaceuticals, Stuart Chapman.
"Participating was in itself a rewarding experience and yielded many
valuable learnings, and to win four in our first attempt is indeed a
noteworthy achievement," he said.
Winners of National Business Excellence Awards are assessed under a
spectrum of multi-dimensional criteria that includes excellence in
leadership, corporate governance, capacity building, performance
management, local and global market reach, corporate social
responsibility and environmental sustainability and in business and
financial results. |
