Nugawela Central College wins first place for new invention

Nugawela Central College won first place for the new invention at the
National New Invention Exhibition Sahasak Nimayum held at BMICH in
collaboration with the Sri Lanka New Invention Communication (SLIC)
under the Ministry of Technology and Research from October 31 to
November 2. R.M. Kasun Lasantha Ratnayake,a student of Nugawela Central
College at Katugasthota received this honour for his new invention “Tile
Cement Scraper“ under the school category at the exhibition held under
the different categories.
Eighteen- year old Kasun who completed his primary education at
Gonigoda Ananda School studies for his GCE (A/L) examination in Science
stream in Nugawela central college. Kasun who perceived the difficulties
of masons, decided to invent this machine to handle the works
efficiently and speedily.
He has made a number of new inventions. Last year he had invented
“Help Guard “(a belt) for the patients.
He said that this new belt worn by patients gives an alarm as well as
a call to a closest friend or relative when the patient’s condition is
critical.
The child who met the Central Province Director of Education E.P.T.K.
Ekanayake with his trophy at his office said that the children inborn
with special skills should be appreciated and we should provide them
maximum support to promote their inventions.
