Rs. 50,000 million to remove cut-outs and posters

The Police Department has deployed 12,000 personnel to remove all banners, posters and cut outs of candidates of presidential election to be held on the January, 8, 2015.

Among these, there are police officers and labourers.

ASPs have been stationed covering 437 police stations to uphold the election law and to instruct police officers on how election laws are to be enforced during the presidential election.

These ASPs are entrusted with the responsibility of taking all measures to implement the election law in the areas.

A senior official of the Department of Elections in Kurunegala said that the Commissioner of Elections has released 50 million rupees to the Police Ddepartment to remove unlawful posters, banners, cutouts in every town and city in the country displaying the pictures and slogans of candidates.
