Faw-See spurns Sira’s call
Faw-See had a surprise visitor at his doorstep on Wednesday night.
But he guessed the visitor’s intention. Polonnaruwe Sira was offered a
seat before he made his usual plea. “I invite you and your son to join
my campaign” Sira pleaded. But it was a firm “no” from Faw-See. “We
cannot betray the party or the President,” Faw-See said. He accompanied
a crestfallen Sira back to his vehicle and clearly heard what Sira
whispered to another; “This rascal won’t come”.
Fonny threatens to quit alliance
Differences of opinion are looming in the so-called joint Opposition
camp, especially with Fonny threatening to quit if the original
principles which were told to him are not met.
Fonny met the Retired Big Lady at her Torrington residence last week
and had a long discussion. Fonny said that Sira’s campaign is now
heading in the wrong direction and that he is unable to put up with it.
The meeting eventually turned out to be a heated argument after which an
irate Fonny walked out.
Sena-Lion eats humble pie
Sena-Lion, who belittled Pope Francis, had to eat humble pie after
trying to influence a Dehiwela-Mt. Lavinia MMC for a crossover.
Promising the youngest MMC a cash reward of two million rupees and a
house, Sena-Lion organised a news conference for another ‘media show’.
It was shame and political nudity that Sena-Lion earned after the MMC
said that he would never leave MR and continue to support him.
