Ananda in innings win over Bens

Sammu Ashan and Dilanka Sandeken bowled Ananda to an innings and 69 run win over St.Benedict’s in the Singer Under 19 school cricket encounter concluded at Ananda Mawatha yesterday.

In reply to Anand’a first innings total of 289 , the Bens were struggling at 68 for 7 at the end of the first day. On resumption the Kotahena lads were shot out for 127 with a deficit of 162 runs. Following on the Benedictines fared no better as they were dismissed for 93 in their second innings. Only Ruvinda Neenhella (36) and Geethika Jayatileka ( 33 n.o) batted with some resistance in the first innings. Sammu Ashan who took four wickets in the first innings finished up with 3 for 43 in the second innings and Dilanka Sandaken had the impressive figures of 6 for 24 .
