Holy Cross College, Kalutara builds swimming pool!

Holy Cross College, Kalutara, well-known for cricket in the Inter-School arena, is going to another field of activity-swimming.

After cricket, the school is ready to pass another milestone, enriching its asset base with the state of the Art, "Swimming Pool Complex" which is a collective effort of the Old Boys, Academic Staff, Parents, Prefects, students and well-wishes, with the guidance of Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Camillus Fernando, Rector HCC and the Management.

Inaugural opening is planned to be held on 30th January 2015 at 10.00 a.m., as the most colourful event in the history of HCC and His Eminence Most Rev. Dr. Malcolm Ranjith will be the chief guest. Ceremony start at 10.00 a.m. with a great welcome for His Eminence Most Rev. Dr. Malcolm Ranjith infront of the Holy Cross Church.

Then the distinguish guests and invitees will proceed to the Swimming Pool deck for the blessings. Thereafter, HCC Students will present a colourful water display and a Water ballet. Immediately afterwards all will gather at the College grounds for the meeting, which will be planned to be held under Parabolic Marquee with 6000 seating capacity.

In this historic occasion Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Camillus Fernando, Rector HCC hope to present the outcome of the another silent project, "Asset Verification" and its report "Proposal for the Physical verification of the fixed assets and the preparation of the fixed asset Register."

Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Camillus Fernando, the Rector of HCC, specially seated the project as an In-House creation with the immense contributions of Mr. Supun Hevapathirana, Architect, Mr. K.S. Mangala Silva, Structural Engineer and Mr. Vandabona; all are old boys of HCC. Also he emphasized the friendly corporation provided by the contractor Crist Pool Creations Pvt. Ltd.

Project team is fortunate to realise the dream of the swimming pool within the exact period of one year, which can be considered as a great achievement.

Now it is the time to open this great asset to the Students of Holy Cross College, Kalutara. The Rector stated that the management of HCC initially wishes to open the facility to selected segments such as old boys, government and privet sector institutions, as phase I.
