EDEX Job Fair, a huge success
by Shirajiv Sirimane in Kandy
The 11th edition of the EDEX Kandy event was concluded at Kandy City
Centre yesterday with over 18,000 people thronging the venue from all
nearby provinces. Due to the increased number of stalls the organisers
also opted to conduct the event in the fifth floor making EDEX the first
event to be staged there.
Chairman EDEX, Kamal Abeysinghe, at the opening on Friday said that
the event is a much-looked-forward-to one and that it helps students
plan their future path of education.
He said that most of the unskilled workers that seek employment in
the Middle East are from rural areas and this exhibition would help the
future younger generations to find an education institute that would
sharpen the skills of youth. “This would help them gain foreign
employment and have better financial returns which would also help the
country to get even more Foreign exchange.”
ESOFT Metro Campus and ANC Education will continue their long
standing partnership with EDEX Expo 2015 as Platinum category sponsors,
along with NIBM & NSBM, a Platinum Sponsor for the third consecutive
year and the Vocational Authority of Sri Lanka (VTA) the latest addition
in the Platinum category. CINEC, Royal Institute of Colombo, CIMA Sri
Lanka and Horizon Campus are the Gold category sponsors. Dialog Axiata
PLC is the Associate Sponsor of the EDEX Job Fair 2015.
The Strategic Partners such as Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC),
Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) and
the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC) signify its relevance to many
industry chambers and employers. EDEX Job Fair is further assisted by
the Institute of Personnel Managers Sri Lanka (IPM-SL) and Sri Lanka
Career Guidance Counsellors Association.
The print media partner for the event is Daily News and Sunday
Observer.
