Vyjayanthimala acted in a number of films such as Vazkhai (1949), Jeevitham (1950), Bahar (1951), Shangam (1953), Penn (1953), Ladki (1953), Nagin Sitara (1955), Pehlijhalak (1955), New Delhi (1956), Patrani (1956), Devta (1956), Anjaan (1956), Naya Daur (1957), Kathputli (1957), Ek Jhalak (1957), Aasha (1957), Sadhana (1958), Raj Tilak (1958) and Piya Milan.

Some of the notable films she acted in are Madhumati (1958), Nazrana (1961), Ganga Jumna (1961), Rangoli (1962), Sangam (1964), Leader (1964), Amarpoli (1966), Saathi (1968) and Prince (1969).
