MRS. MUTHAMMAH GURUSINGHAM, 97, passed away peacefully in Anchorage Alaska, USA on Sunday, February 22, 2015. She was the daughter of late Poothathamby Vallipuram and Packiam. Muthammah was born in Malaysia, and grew up in Thirunelvely, Sri Lanka. She was the wife of late Rajasingham Gurusingham of Rangoon, Burma and Padaitharippu, Ceylon, and lived in Rangoon, Burma from 1940 - 1941. She was the last living member of the Vallipuram family, including her brothers Sittampalam, Sachithanandam, Nagaratnam, Dr. Cumaraswamy, Shanmugalingam and Suntharalingam, and her sister Logambihai. Muthammah was quite a world traveller, having lived in Sri Lnaka, Malaysia, Burma, New Zealand and the United States. She became a proud citizen of the United States in 1992, and since then has lived in Indianapolis, Indiana; Las Vegas, Nevada; Wellington, New Zealand; and Anchorage, Alaska. She was an avid music lover, singer, voracious reader and a gourmet cook. Muthammah was a great inspiration to all her brothers, sisters, children and grandchildren, and never hesitated to nurture them with love, kindness and patience. Commitment to truth, compassion, justice, peace and spirituality were the guiding principles in her life. She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, friends and relatives with a heavy heart. Muthammah was the mother of Saroja (Sydney, Australia), Dr. Sittampalam (Inidiana, USA), Dr. Gowri (Oamaru, New Zealand, deceased), Thuwaraka (Cotacachi, Ecuador), Dr. Yasoo (Alaska, USA) and Sathiyandra (Wellington, New Zealand); and grandmother of Suhanya and Ramya (Sydney, Australia), Sanjiv (Richmond, USA), Darshan (New York, USA), Lakshman & Anchali (Auckland, New Zealand), Anusha (Raleigh-Durham, USA), Meneka & Nithya (Alaska, USA), and Mithunan & Arvalan (Wellington, New Zealand). She was the great-grandmother of Anika,  Abhira & Reha (Sydney, Australia), Devika (Raleigh-Durham, USA), Cairo Fox & Amikah (Auckland, New Zealand). Muthammah was the mother-in-law of Suntheralingam (Sydney, Australia), Savithri (Indianapolis, USA), Ambihaipahan (Cotachachi, Equador), Dr. Thiru (Anchorage, Alaska) and Gowri (Wellington, New Zealand).
